ISIMAT and Hinterkopf Demonstrate Their Alliance
ISIMAT’s new TH 8130 with flexo and screen printing stations at K 2010

ELLWANGEN, Germany, October 2010 – At K 2010 ISIMAT and Hinterkopf demonstrate their strategic alliance by exhibiting on a shared booth their machines for tube finishing. ISIMAT will show its new TH 8130, a hybrid printing machine for direct printing onto flexible plastic tubes; the machine has eight printing stations, each printing station can take a Flexo printing unit or a screen printing unit and these units are interchangeable.
The TH 8130 achieves unprecedented flexo printing quality in direct printing onto flexible tubes. The radial run-out at base and tip of each mandrel is measured after a size change. These measurements are used to calculate two mandrel-specific movement profiles for each mandrel; one for the operator side of a flexo print assembly, one for the machine side. Each flexo printing assembly has a special servo-driven mechanism (Dynamic Roller Positioning, patent applied) that, during printing, uses the profiles associated with the mandrel in the flexo printing station to independently move the two sides of the flexo print assembly. This dynamic positioning of the flexo print assembly keeps constant the distance between flexo plate roller and mandrel. The negative effect of mandrel-runout is virtually eliminated.
This hybrid printing machine combines the strengths of both printing processes: flexo printing for half-tone printing of stunning photo-like images, and screen printing for printing of vibrant solids and texts.
The first two TH 8130s started production in England and Austria in spring this year; the TH 8130 on display has been sold to a German tube manufacturer.

ISIMAT GmbH Siebdruckmaschinen
ISIMAT is a privately owned company that was established fifty-five years ago by a design engineer in Ellwangen, Germany. The engineering tradition is being carried on by Peter Detzner, an engineer who took over the helm of ISIMAT in 1995.
ISIMAT is focussing on one goal: enabling companies to make their industrial printing processes more competitive. This singular focus allows ISIMAT to excel in the design and manufacture of advanced printing machines: screen printing machines for decorating glass hollowware; and screen printing machines, hybrid printing machines and flexo printing machines for decorating flexible plastic tubes for the cosmetic and personal care industry.
