ELLWANGEN, Germany, 20 December 2010 – The 26th annual Dr. Eberle Innovation Award was presented to the winners at the award ceremony on 24th November 2010 in Stuttgart; ISIMAT’s Dynamic Roller Positioning system was introduced as an innovation that stretches the limits of tube decoration.

The Dr. Eberle Innovation Award is sponsored by the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany; the award is for small and medium size enterprises.  A panel of industry experts meticulously selected the five winners from 71 entries. The judges consider whether an innovation is groundbreaking, whether developing the innovation required entrepreneurial excellence and whether the innovation is a commercial success.

ISIMAT’s hybrid printing machine, TH 8130, for tube decoration has flexo printing units and screen printing units. The flexo printing units feature Dynamic Roller Positioning systems (DRP-systems, patent pending). A DRP-system moves a flexo printing unit in such a way that the gap between flexo plate roller and mandrel is kept constant during a mandrel rotation; this enables the printing of photo-like images onto flexible tubes.

The innovation is a commercial success. Five TH 8130 were sold since the launch in November 2009, when the first two machines were introduced to tube manufacturers from 13 countries in 4 continents.
